One of the most meaningful moments I share with the kids on the unit is during doll playtime sessions. For them, it’s a chance to step into a world of imagination, where dolls and toys become characters in stories filled with adventure, creativity, and laughter. For me, it’s something even deeper.
Imaginative storytelling was one of my greatest joys as a child. I would spend hours creating worlds and breathing life into my toys, weaving together tales that felt limitless. As I guide the kids through these sessions, I’m reminded of that same childhood magic — where imagination knows no bounds and playtime holds a pure, unfiltered joy.
Facilitating these sessions allows me to connect with the kids in a way that feels genuine and heartfelt. Through the dolls, I see them express emotions, problem-solve, and create friendships in their own special way. But as much as I support them, they give me something priceless in return: a piece of my own childhood heart.
It’s incredible how moments like these can bridge the gap between generations. The stories we create together bring back a wholesomeness that feels rare and beautiful in the fast-paced world we live in. Watching their imaginations come alive reminds me of how vital play is, not just for children, but for all of us.
Sometimes, it’s the simplest things — like a doll, a story, and a little imagination — that leave the deepest footprints on our hearts.
